- I know that water sounds resonate a lot with us humans, but one thing I realized recently is that there should be more said about seeing thickets of trees swaying in the wind. The gentle undulations are oddly hypnotizing to me. Also clouds shifting and moving in the wind.
- I have had to stop myself from looking at the news too much again, it makes me so stressed. I keep thinking of ways to be mindful of my relationship with the news. Balancing understanding the state of things while not falling for the 24-hours new cycle trap, which seems manipulative at best and dangerous propaganda at worst.
- Speaking of... damn, you know society's bad when battle royale concepts are accelerating. Between Squid Games, video games (Fortnight, PUBG if that is still a thing), Hunger Games released a prequel, I just read Hide by Kiersten White and today what do I find but that Patrick's Hovarth's new one-shot is a commentary on CAPITALISM. I wonder if there is a tide change? As Byung-Chul Han put so eloquently in The Burnout Society, "When a paradigm has come to provide an object of reflection, it often means that its demise is at hand."
- AND Speaking of... battle royale, the movie Battle Royale has firmly stayed in my top-5 for over 20-years now and I don't envision it being easily dethroned :p
- I'm getting in the groove of making soda and am enjoying them a lot! I like making a syrup with 9oz water, 70 grams sugar, and 1/4 c of a fruity loose leaf tisane. I add half the cooled syrup, 1/4 c ginger bug, 1/2 a lemon's juice, and filtered water to fill up to the neck of a 16oz swing-top bottle and ferment the soda. My ginger bug is not messing around so I usually burp the bottle 24-hours in give or take, ferment more overnight, and refrigerate the next day ^_^
- Current obsessions: lavender-colored everything, working on my professional website, crying over movie snippets and videos of psychologists explaining what healthy, safe connections look like on Youtube shorts (don't judge me darn it). Videos of pilots explaining plane mechanics and processes.
She wants to be free of them all. To release Ava to the night, to walk away, to sever the ties and be nothing and no one and just…hide. Hide and never stop hiding. Like the bird in the shelter, up in the dusty rafters, isolated and hidden and safe. She wants that life.
