1. I want to have beliefs strong enough to give me an identity, but are flexible enough to make me adapt them and grow as a person. There is a delicious sense of justice that often tempts me as I formulate my beliefs and sometimes a good debate feels cleansing and exciting.
  2. Random memory 1: I remember sitting in my balcony in Ponce. I was hand beading an evening gown as I listened to Incubus’s Make Yourself. I would like to embellish and say there was a lovely tropical breeze, but the sunset hour was hot, dry and still. I remember my needle rhythmically moving as I sent a silent karmic wish to the universe to make a palm frond sway.
  3. Random memory 2: I remember my college buddy lifting his beer and telling me… “S, an Mmmbop is a UNIT OF TIME. It’s so sad that in an Mmmbop they’re gone.”
  4. This was last year, but... Frida Kahlo's painting broke auction records. That made me feel uneasy. I think because of the dissonance between what Frida Kahlo raised her voice against, and the absurd amount of money spent on her work. Because let's face it... most wealthy collector's are the antithesis of art appreciation because (indulge me in this generalization) many collect the art for their arbitrary market valuation. Someone that values art would simply proudly display what speaks to them, despite the fame of the artist.
  5. A fun idea I wanted to play with was having little entertainment themes on occasion. Like playing a video game and reading a book that has the same vibe or that inspired the game. Maybe Persona with Jung's Map of the Soul, or Outer Wilds with The Southern Reach trilogy.
  6. Back in the day I had a theory that if you made a giant playlist with only tracks by Zero 7 and Thievery Corporation, one could have a lot of hours of music that sounds cohesive, yet diverse enough to not always realize that the whole thing was only the two artists. Half of the reason was their god tier roster of guest vocalists (Sia, David Byrne, Mozez, Lou Lou Ghelichkhani, Notch come to mind) but still!
  7. Current Obsessions: Danganronpa, first reads of the year, pickles. The Paradise Killer OST and deep dives into belief systems and systems.

Necessities helped people survive, but joyful excess gave them life.
