If sometimes you had said, are you ok, then perhaps we would have become friends.
If sometimes you said, goodnight, then perhaps I would have trusted you.
If sometimes you would have said, I am here, I would not have left.
If you would have not avoided meeting halfway, you would have known me.
If you would have answered questions, or explained, I would have understood.
But "if" is not steady ground to build on, want is not a foundation, and wishes are not action. So better to walk away from fires that burn one's heart instead of gently warming it.
