Now
I figured instead of writing slice-of-life updates, I could use this space to add little tidbits of what I'm up to.

Happenings
It's been a few weeks since I updated here. I'm not sure if I understand why. I don't remember much of what I did and why I wouldn't want to update my site. I have been a bit more tired, and a little more despondent at times, so perhaps it was just me isolating myself. I often feel like my presence is venmous when I'm unhappy. I worry that I will always be the miserable one to others. Or that I begin to sound like a broken record. But it's not been terrible lately. Being despondent isn't the worse existence and it's not as difficult to start peeking out from despondency as it is in darker, more hopeless moods. And it's very probably overtiredness. There were some things that were extra that had to be handled this month so it has been very busy with paperwork, errands, meetings, etc. Anyway, I will keep this short. But now that I am here again, I am glad to be working on my little site.
From my Shelves
This year, my spooky season reading is going better than usual! I started in the last week of September, and so far I have read:
- The Silent Companions by Laura Purcell
- Mister Magic by Kiersten White
- The Fall of the House of Usher by Edgar Allen Poe
- Kiki's Delievery Service by Eiko Kadono
- What Moves the Dead by T. Kingfisher
- Your Shadow Half Remains by Sunny Morraine
- Witch Hat Atelier Vol. 1-4 by Kamome Shirahama
- Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees by Patrick Horvath
I am halfway through The Birds and Other Stories by Daphne du Maurier and Starling House by Alix E. Harrow. This year, except for the Poe (which I read to prepare for the T. Kingfisher, which is a remake of the Usher book), and Patrock Horvath, all of my spooky reads have been by female or non-binary authors. I think something in my soul pushed me away from the male perspective for this. Which is unusual, as I read books with little regard for gender. But it has been nice, and I truly enjoyed every single book I have read so far. There are not many weeks left but if I can, I am considering dipping into What Feasts at Night, The Honey Witch, Nothing but Blackened Teeth, My Darling, Dreadful Thing, and The Very Irregular Society of Witches.
On My Needles
I am knitting less lately to let my sore hands mend a little haha. But I did make the forethought heel socks and they were perfect! I am now slowly working on some holiday knitting (socks for the teachers). Right now I am making a pretty pair in a warm creamy color with lavender heels and toes. The colors make me swoon every time I work on them. I also have been using the correct sized needles and love the fabric I am knitting with them.
I know that part of the story must be made up, because there’s no such thing as curses or cracks in the world, but maybe that’s all a good ghost story is: a way of handing out consequences to the people who never got them in real life.
