- K did not have strep after all. We took her in and she has some ninja type b flu that tests negative for flu but positive for strep. FML 🤦🏻 So of course suffering through antibiotics didn't do anything because influenza is not a bacteria *sigh*. I just feel better that we have an explanation and I'm extra glad we went to check because it was all weird. She's had strep before and I kinda know the patterns and arc of it and a lot of my worry was that we were 5 days in the medicine and she wasn't getting better AND it was tortorous to watch her hold the antibiotics and not take it. Luckily, she has Spring Break next week (MS times it with daylight saving which is actually genius imo). So she has some time to truly get stronger before going to school.
- I've been reading Audition for the Fox and there are segments of the novella that serve as world building framed by oral storytelling. It reminded me of when I was younger and I had the Signet Classic collection of Hans Christian Andersen stories. In that edition, there was a biographical foreword that made the fascinating point of oral storytelling having a theatrical quality to it. How one doesn't merely say "Bridget fell to the ground" but it would be more like "Whoosh! Bridget lost her balance! She sways to and fro and spun around and around, until alas! She collapsed to the ground in a helpless heap." lol it wasn't exactly that but similar!
- I remember now too that my favorite Hans Christian Andersen story was always The Talisman. I always found the lesson not so much as revolutionary, but more of a gentle reminder.
- Another article about the tech industry that resonated with me by Mike Monteiro. How to Grow Stawberries. I don't think I could even try to articulate all that has been bothering about working in tech as well as Mike did here.
- I ordered a pair of denim shorts, and was consternated upon opening the box and realizing they are BEDAZZLED. On reflection, I decided that when life hands you rhinestones, you give in to fate and shine bright like a diamond.
- Were all the cruddy movies with cartoonish villains some kind of conspiracy to prime us for the absurdity of the past decade? Sometimes I question if I live in reality... Some of these bros are legit giving Dr. Robotnik rn. And yes, I refuse to call him Eggman or whatever. Back in my day it was Robotnik and I shall stick to it :p
- I was thinking about Nausicaä and the ohmu. The ohmu are perceived as monsters because they look scary, and are hard to understand beyond their anger. But the ohmu are an immune response to a planet that is wounded. It always made me think of the things we sometimes think are negative, ugly... are actually the very things that bring us peace.
- RIP 회사AUTO (company car). I remember his work to be some of the first I listened to back when I started getting into Vaporwave and was sad to find out he passed away recently from ALS
- Current Obsessions: Spice cake, turmeric tea. Pokémon LeafGreen.
It hurt to be hurt and stand again, knowing the blow would return. There was much pain that awaited her, she knew, if she kept being a shield for those around her. As the cold of the cell pressed on her, a little voice in her mind said: yes, but think of the greater pain awaiting those defenseless many?
