- I was listening to my mega playlist of random songs I've loved through the years. It's funny how one forgets a song but then can sing it word for word. I got a kick out of listening It's the Things You Do by Five, Love by Monsta X, Let Me Know by Eden's Crush, Lo que pasó, pasó by Daddy Yankee, Hard Habit to Break by Chicago. I remember when I was younger having a crush on the other singer's voice. Not Peter Cetera. I think Bill Champlain? It was always a love for his and Lou Gramm's haha
- Ok, Run Like the Wind by Christopher Cross now... This one makes me laugh so hard. Cristopher Cross just doesn't strike me as a rebellious renegade on the run. And the Michael McDonald cameo? GOLD.
- My daughter started school yesterday. She's repeating third grade. Which... is a relief. I always felt ill at ease with her classmates developing at a different rate. I hope this year will be better for her. But I know I have a long road ahead. She gets really dysregulated with ANYTHING she deems boring. She minds me for the most part, but has low patience for making mistakes. So trying to help her meet society halfway, at least for now. Sometimes I feel this sense of... I can't raise my kid. I'm failing.
- The fermentation projects went well! I was able to bake a wonderful 66% hydration loaf with it last Saturday. When I started I tried to make the epic ones with 75%+ hydration and I just can't. I don't care about big holes in my crumb, and I live in dang Mississippi, the air itself probably adds 5% hydration! I've been feeding Vincent van Dough every 2 days and using the discard for my daughter's pain de mie and buns so it's worked in really well with my current bread schedule! Jinny the ginger bug also made some really yummy soda this week. I bottled 4 16oz bottles and have one left in the fridge. I bottled more in the 3 empty bottle today. I hope it works out again, the bug looked and sounded bubbly so fingers crossed. I used piña colada tea and it's lightly sweet and quite effervescent. I might get the recipe on the recetas section. Because I WILL forget how the heck I make it haha
- Brud is growing A LOT! He's maybe close to triple the size as when we found him. He's attacking one of his toys as I type. We had to send him to the vet for his shot a few weeks ago, and I missed him that day. It's so odd how quickly he's become part of the fabric of our lives. It brings me a lot of joy being in the same room as him.
- Oooohhhhhhh, SoulDecision's Ooo it's kinda crazy now. Why don't I listen to this list more often?? Soooo good! Now Chevelle The Red lol.
- I feel so meh at work. I'm in the "I work hard and no one appreciates it" blues. I know I'm lucky to have a job nowadays, especially with all the tech layoffs. But seeing people applauded for reciting a Claude summary and getting a milquetoast reaction to a project I worked hard on burned my biscuits. I also have to beg to do my job sometimes. It's just meh. I sometimes casually weave a dream of opening a bakery but isn't that just the plot of every Hallmark movie ever?
- Current Obsessions: ginger bug soda, Promise Mascot Agency, Surfin' Boy by Red Velvet. My random playlist.
Gathering is peculiar, because you see nothing but what you're looking for. If you're picking raspberries, you see only what's red, and if you're looking for bones you see only the white. No matter where you go, the only thing you see is bones. Sometimes they are as thin as needles, extremely fine and delicate, and have to be handled with great care. Sometimes they are large, heavy thighbones, or a cage of ribs buried in the sand like the timbers of a shipwreck. Bones come in a thousand shapes and every one of them has its own structure.
